Five Biggest Temple in Indonesia

Borobudur Temple 



Borobudur temple is located in Magelang, Central Java, about 40 km from Yogyakarta. Borobudur Temple has 10 levels consisting of 6 levels of a square, circular level 3 circular and a main stupa as a peak. At every level there are several stupas. Altogether there are 72 domes in addition to the main stupa. In every stupa there is a statue of Buddha. Ten levels of Buddhist philosophy which describes the ten levels of Bodhisattva which must pass to reach the perfection of the Buddha in nirvana. This perfection symbolized by the main stupa at the top level. Borobudur structure when viewed from above form a mandala structure depicting Buddhist cosmology and the human thinking.

Prambanan Temple


Prambanan temple is incredibly beautiful building built in the 10th century during the reigns of two kings, and Rakai Rakai Pikatan Balitung. Rose as high as 47 feet (5 meters higher than Borobudur temple), the establishment of this temple has fulfilled the desire maker, shows the triumph of Hinduism in Java. This temple is located 17 kilometers from the city center, in the middle of the area that is now a beautiful park. There is a legend that Javanese people always tell about this temple. Mendut Temple 


Mendut temple is a Buddhist background. This temple is located in the village Mendut Mungkid district, Magelang regency, Central Java, a few kilometers from Borobudur temple. Muaro Jambi Temple


Size Muaro Jambi temple site of 12 square kilometers, an area of Buddhist worship in the days of Srivijaya kingdom. Muaro enshrinement site is located in the village of Jambi Jambi Muaro, District Muaro Sebo, Muara Jambi. The distance from the capital of Jambi province around 40 kilometers. Candi Sewu 


Sewu Temple is located in the hamlet of Bener, Bugisan village, district of Prambanan, Klaten regency, Central Java province. In the past this temple was in the middle of residential population dense enough. Now some have been cleared for the location of Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan Prambanan Unit. Thus Sewu Temple is now located in Unit Park neighborhood of Prambanan, precisely north of Prambanan Temple. This temple is located about eighteen miles east of the city of Yogyakarta. In 1960, the temple complex has been found Sewu inscription dated 714 C or 792 F, whose contents include mention of the holy building improvements called Manjus'rigra. Based on these inscriptions, allegedly the original name is Sewu Temple which means house Manjus'rigra Manjusri, Boddhisatawa That is one of the Buddhist religion.
